The Learning Support Team is familiar with a large scope of learning profiles and best strategies for each unique learning style. Below is a non-exhaustive list of common learning profiles given in alphabetical order. Please notify our team to request the addition of any learning profile that is currently not on the list below.
ADHD and ADD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Attention Deficit Disorder):
Students with ADD/ADHD may exhibit one or more of the following characteristics: inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity. DYSCALCULIA:
A specific learning disability in arithmetic. DYSGRAPHIA:
Disorder affecting written work. May present as difficulties organising writing on the page and ideas for writing, messy handwriting, difficulties with spelling, or poor fine motor control. EXECUTIVE FUNCTIONING CHALLENGES:
A difficulty in any task that requires planning, organisation, memory, time and flexible thinking. SPECIFIC LEARNING DISORDER, INCLUDES DYSLEXIA:
A disorder in one or more of the basic psychological processes involved in understanding or in using language spoken or written, that may manifest itself in the imperfect ability to listen, think, speak, read, write, spell or do mathematical calculations. AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER (including ASPERGER'S SYNDROME):
A developmental disability significantly affecting verbal and nonverbal communication and social interaction, generally evident before the age of three. |
